When youth ages 10-17 get in trouble with the legal system or with law enforcement, they may be ordered to do community service, just like adults. SFoY maintains relationships with a variety of community partners--nonprofit, civic, and business--to provide a network of options for community service work. Placement at worksites may depend on where the youth lives, youth skills, and worksite preferences. SFoY staff supervise group projects and strive to provide a meaningful experience for youth.
SFoY facilitates work hours that earn a small wage so juveniles can earn the money to pay victim restitution when it is ordered by the court. These hours are worked by youth at any of our partnering community service worksites throughout the county. These community partners make it easier for families to pay the victim restitution while the youth are held accountable for their criminal actions.
SFoY has adapted our programs and worksites so that older youth may have the opportunity to gain vocational skills, experience, and build on personal career goals.
Worksite volunteer supervisors provide support, guidance, and informal mentoring for our youth, We would love to share more information.
